Step One: Don’t Move the Vehicle
If your Land Rover, Range Rover or Jaguar is legally parked when you discover the keys are gone, leave it where it is. London parking rules are unforgiving — moving to a different bay on the assumption you’ll be there longer is a gamble not worth taking. Note the exact location, the street name, and any nearby pay-and-display hours so you can monitor it remotely if needed.
If you’re on a yellow or red line or in a timed bay with limited time left, you may need to arrange a warden exemption through your local council while you wait for a specialist. Some London boroughs allow brief exemptions for genuine vehicle emergencies — it’s worth a quick call.

A general locksmith cannot do this. A main dealer can, but they require the vehicle to be brought in, which is impossible without keys, and the wait time is typically one to three weeks.

The BCM deletion is important. A lost key that’s still registered to your car remains a working key. Removing it from the BCM means it stops working immediately, regardless of who finds it.
