The Jaguar F-PACE (X761) is Jaguar’s first ever performance SUV, on sale from 2016 right through to 2026 and built on the same aluminium intensive platform that underpins much of the modern JLR range. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged F-PACE key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct JLR diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X761, including the SVR, P400e plug in hybrid and standard petrol and diesel variants, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. For an F-PACE spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged fob, we come to you and cut and programme the new key on site. Your existing keys keep working alongside the new one, central locking and the alarm are left untouched and there is no need to swap out the security module to bring a fresh remote onto the car.
For an all keys lost situation we bypass the requirement for a working key by accessing the immobiliser and security modules directly, clearing the old key data and programming new remotes on the spot, so the car never needs to be recovered or towed. Every remote we supply fully supports keyless entry, push button start and the proximity locking the F-PACE came with, and we always leave at least two working keys before we go. Parts and labour come with a 12 month warranty, and the price is agreed up front before we set off, so there are no surprises on the day.
The F-PACE has used the same smart proximity remote with push button start across its entire production run from 2016 onwards, including the SVR performance variant and the P400e plug-in hybrid added in 2021. The fob is paired to the Keyless Vehicle Module on each car using JLR encrypted diagnostics, which is why a like-for-like fob bought online cannot simply be inserted — the security data has to be written cleanly into the new hardware and matched to the vehicle. Common reasons we attend an F-PACE include a fob that has been pushed through the wash, a key that has cracked after years of pocket use, and the very common case of one key going missing from a household after the school run. A main Jaguar dealer is the only realistic alternative, but the dealer route typically involves a slot wait often running to two weeks and a recovery bill if the car cannot be driven in. Coming to you and finishing on the day removes all of that overhead.
Jaguar F-PACE key programming is not a procedure you can complete with off-the-shelf tools. The X761 uses the JLR encrypted security architecture which requires a genuine dealer-level diagnostic interface and the correct authorisation token before the vehicle will accept any new key data. We carry that interface and software in the van, along with brand-specific virgin key stock for every F-PACE model year from 2016 to 2026.
The programming sequence authenticates with the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) and the Body Control Module (BCM) in sequence. For pre-2020 F-PACEs the process takes 5 to 10 minutes for a spare and 20 to 40 minutes for all keys lost. Post-2020 Pivi Pro cars take 10 to 20 minutes for a spare and around 40 minutes for a full all-keys-lost reset. Both variants are completed on site with the van parked next to your car, and you have a working key in your hand before we leave.
Every Jaguar F-PACE smart fob contains a physical emergency blade key. To release it, press and hold the small sliding button on the back of the fob while pulling the blade free from the bottom. This blade fits into a hidden emergency key slot in the driver's door handle — on the F-PACE the slot is concealed behind a small rectangular cover on the inner face of the handle. Insert the blade, turn and the door will open without needing any battery power.
Once inside the car with a flat fob battery, you can still start the engine. Hold the fob against the Jaguar badge on the steering column or press it directly onto the start button area and press the brake pedal at the same time as pressing the start button. The car uses short-range inductive coupling at the start button to read the key data even when the fob has no battery power at all. If your fob is lost or damaged rather than just flat, the emergency blade will not help — that is when you need us. We attend F-PACEs where all keys are gone and programme fresh remotes without recovering the vehicle.
Pre-2020 facelift F-PACEs sit on the older JLR security platform and are typically finished in 5 to 10 minutes for a spare key and 20 to 40 minutes for an all keys lost callout. Post-2020 Pivi Pro F-PACEs take 10 to 20 minutes for a spare and around 40 minutes for an all keys lost lockout. Either way we attend with dealer-level JLR diagnostic kit and finish in well under an hour in almost every case.
The 2020 facelift brought the Pivi Pro security architecture, changing both the key hardware and the programming procedure. Pre-facelift and post-facelift F-PACEs take different fob formats and require different authorisation sequences. We carry both variants in the van and confirm which your car requires before we leave the workshop, so the correct kit always arrives on the day.
No. The hardware changed with the 2020 facelift and a fob from a pre-facelift car will not pair to a post-facelift car, and vice versa. We confirm the exact variant needed when you book.
Yes. F-PACE households running multiple Jaguars are common. Each car needs its own programming session because keys are paired to specific VINs, but doing two or three vehicles on a single callout saves time for everyone. Tell us when booking that you have more than one car and we will allow time for both.
On the F-PACE this intermittent symptom is most often a weak 12V battery causing the body control module to desync from the security side. We check 12V battery health on every F-PACE callout because keeping a healthy battery is the single most reliable way to avoid recurring key faults on connected Jaguars.
On a recent F-PACE that diagnosis should usually be questioned. We attend near-new F-PACEs regularly where a dealer has flagged the security module as needing replacement, only to clear the lockout on the same visit using specialist JLR tooling with no module work at all. Genuine module failure on a relatively young F-PACE is rare. A JLR specialist second opinion almost always saves unnecessary intervention.
