Post 2019 facelift cars moved to the Pivi Pro security architecture and take 10 to 20 minutes for a spare and around 40 minutes for an all keys lost lockout. I bought a used L550 with only one key, can I get a spare without losing the original?
Yes, this is the most common L550 callout we attend. We programme a fresh paired spare alongside your existing working key, so you walk away with both fobs operational and both linked to your driver memory settings. The original key keeps its full functionality and the security module is not wiped, so the existing fob is unaffected by adding the second one.
My L550 fob went through the wash or got soaked, will I need a complete new key or just a quick fix?
A full wash cycle or pool submersion usually kills the smart key electronics permanently. Smart keys are sealed units that we do not repair, so the right move is a fresh genuine L550 remote, paired on site. A Land Rover dealer has told me my L550 has a locked security module and only they can replace it before a key can be programmed, is that really the only option?
