The Jaguar E-PACE (X540) is Jaguar’s compact SUV, on sale from 2017 right through to 2026 and sharing much of its underpinnings with the Range Rover Evoque. It runs the same encrypted JLR security platform as the rest of the modern Jaguar range, which is exactly why a lost or damaged E-PACE key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. Every E-PACE since 2017 uses the same smart proximity remote with push button start, sharing its key family with the rest of the modern Jaguar lineup and very closely with the Range Rover Evoque it is built alongside. Post-2020 Pivi Pro E-PACEs take 10 to 20 minutes for a spare and around 40 minutes for a full reset. Both variants are completed on site without towing the vehicle anywhere.
Every Jaguar E-PACE smart fob contains a physical emergency blade key. To release it, press the small button on the back of the fob and slide the blade free from the bottom. This blade fits into a hidden emergency key slot in the driver's door handle — the slot is concealed behind a small cover on the inner face of the handle. Insert the blade, turn and the door opens with no battery power needed.
Once inside the car with a flat fob, you can still start the engine. Hold the fob against the start button and press the brake pedal at the same time as pressing the start button — the E-PACE has an inductive coupling point at the button that reads the key data even when the fob battery is completely dead. If the fob is lost or damaged rather than just flat, the emergency blade will not help and you need a full key replacement. We programme new E-PACE remotes on site with no tow required, regardless of whether all keys have been lost.

We carry both pre and post facelift formats and confirm which your car requires before we leave, so the correct stock always comes on the day. The concept is similar to a modern BMW or Audi but the JLR security architecture is a completely different system requiring Jaguar-specific tooling. Independent locksmiths who handle German marques often cannot programme E-PACE keys without subcontracting. We focus exclusively on JLR, so the equipment and authorisation are always present.

On a recent E-PACE that diagnosis should be questioned.
