Fast Help:
The Jaguar XE (X760) is Jaguar’s compact executive saloon, on sale from 2015 right through to 2026 and built on the same aluminium intensive platform as the larger XF. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged XE key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct JLR diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X760, including the petrol, diesel and Project 8 variants, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. Our technicians come to you, programme the key on the spot and have you back in the car the same day in almost every case, with no lock module replacement and no need to recover the vehicle.
For an X760 XE spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged remote, our mobile workshop attends your location with dealer-level JLR diagnostic software and correct-specification Jaguar smart key hardware. We programme the new remote to the Body Control Module on site, confirm keyless entry, push-button start and the alarm all function correctly, and leave your existing keys fully active alongside the new one. No dealer visit or vehicle recovery is required.
For all-keys-lost situations on the X760 we carry full BCM reset capability in the van. We clear the old key memory, reinitialise the security system and programme new remotes in a single visit. Most X760 XE jobs finish in under an hour. Parts and programming carry a 12-month warranty and the price is fixed and agreed before we travel.
The X760 Jaguar XE (2015 onwards) shares its electronic architecture with the XF (X260) and F-PACE (X761), using a Body Control Module-based smart key system on the JLR D7a aluminium platform. New remotes must be authenticated and written to the BCM’s approved key list using manufacturer-level JLR diagnostic software. The X760’s encrypted key security cannot be accessed by generic OBD key programmers or aftermarket Jaguar tools — only JLR SDD or Pathfinder with a genuine interface will communicate correctly with the BCM.
Our technicians connect to the X760’s OBD port, read the current BCM security token and write the new key into the approved list in an encrypted session. For all-keys-lost scenarios we perform a full security reset, generate new immobiliser seeds and programme a complete set of fresh remotes in one visit. The X760 XE was also available with an optional Activity Key wristband, which we carry and can programme as part of the same callout. Spare key programming takes 15 to 25 minutes; all-keys-lost takes 30 to 45 minutes.
How does Jaguar XE (X760) key programming work and how long does it take?
The X760 pairs remotes through the BCM using JLR’s encrypted authentication protocol. Our technician connects to the OBD port with JLR diagnostic software, reads the current BCM security token and writes the new key into the approved list. A spare key takes 15 to 25 minutes; an all-keys-lost BCM reset and full reprogram takes 30 to 45 minutes at your location.
Can you programme an Activity Key wristband for the X760 XE?
Yes. The Jaguar XE was available with an optional Activity Key — a waterproof wristband that locks and unlocks the car without needing the main key fob. We carry Activity Key hardware and programme it through the BCM during the same callout as a main key, or independently if you want to add one to your vehicle.
My X760 XE shows a “Key Not Recognised” message — what does this mean?
A Key Not Recognised warning on the X760 usually means the BCM has lost the remote’s authentication token, the key battery is critically low, or a BCM software update has invalidated the stored key profile. We diagnose on site, re-authenticate the existing remote if the hardware is still functional, or supply and programme a replacement fob if needed.
Does a 2019 or 2020 facelift X760 XE use a different key system?
The 2019 XE facelift updated the infotainment to the Pivi Pro system but the BCM-based smart key architecture remained the same. Programming procedure, key hardware and timescales are identical across all X760 model years from 2015 to production end. We carry compatible fobs for all X760 build years.
Will programming a spare key affect my existing X760 remotes?
No. Adding a spare key writes the new remote into the BCM’s approved list without affecting your existing fobs. All currently programmed keys remain fully active. Only a full BCM reset in an all-keys-lost situation clears the list, and in that case all remotes are programmed together in a single session.
Is there a warranty on X760 key programming?
All parts and programming carry a 12-month warranty. If a programmed remote fails within the warranty period, we return to site at no charge. The price quoted by phone covers all labour and hardware with no hidden call-out fees.
We also cover other Jaguar models on the same platform. If you need a key for the Jaguar XF (X260), the Jaguar F-PACE (X761), or the Jaguar XJ (X351), our mobile service covers all three alongside the XE.
