Fast Help:
The Jaguar XF (X260) is Jaguar’s executive saloon and Sportbrake estate, on sale from 2015 right through to 2026 and sharing the same aluminium intensive platform as the smaller XE. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged XF key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct JLR diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X260, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. Our technicians come to you, programme the key on the spot and have you back in the car the same day in almost every case, with no lock module replacement and no need to recover the vehicle.
For an X260 XF spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged remote, our mobile workshop attends your location with dealer-level JLR diagnostic software and genuine-specification Jaguar smart key hardware. We programme the new remote directly to the Body Control Module on site, confirm keyless entry, push-button start and the alarm all operate correctly, and leave your existing keys fully functional. No dealer visit or vehicle recovery is required.
For all-keys-lost situations on the X260 we carry full BCM reset capability in the van. We clear the old key memory, reinitialise the security system and programme fresh remotes in a single visit. Most X260 XF jobs are completed in under an hour. All parts and programming carry a 12-month warranty and the price is fixed and agreed before we travel.
The X260 Jaguar XF (2015 onwards) uses a smart key system managed through the Body Control Module, communicating via the CAN bus network on a shared architecture with other JLR vehicles of the same generation. Programming new remotes requires manufacturer-level JLR diagnostic software — the BCM uses encrypted key authentication that generic OBD programmers and aftermarket Jaguar key tools cannot replicate. Our mobile technicians use genuine JLR SDD or Pathfinder software, ensuring new remotes are written to the BCM correctly and the 12-month warranty on parts and labour is fully backed.
The programming process connects to the X260’s OBD port, reads the current BCM security token, authenticates the new key fob and adds it to the approved list. For all-keys-lost scenarios we perform a complete security reset, generate new immobiliser seeds and programme a full set of fresh remotes in one visit. The X260 platform also underpins the XE (X760) and the F-PACE (X761), meaning our technicians have deep familiarity with this architecture across all three models. Spare key programming takes 15 to 25 minutes; all-keys-lost takes 30 to 45 minutes.
How does Jaguar XF (X260) key programming work and how long does it take?
The X260 pairs remotes through the BCM using JLR’s encrypted authentication protocol. Our technician connects manufacturer-level diagnostic software to the OBD port, reads the current security token and writes the new key into the approved list. A spare key takes 15 to 25 minutes; an all-keys-lost BCM reset and reprogram takes 30 to 45 minutes at your location.
Can you programme a key for an X260 XF with the optional Activity Key?
Yes. The X260 XF was available with an optional Activity Key wristband, which operates as a secondary passive entry device alongside the standard smart key. We carry and programme Activity Keys as part of the same callout, or can add one independently if you want to add this feature to your vehicle.
My X260 XF key fob buttons work but keyless entry has stopped — is this a programming fault?
If the remote starts the engine but passive entry has failed on the X260, the fault is more likely to be in the door handle antenna, the PASE module or the BCM antenna calibration rather than the key programming itself. We diagnose on site by connecting to the BCM, checking antenna signal levels and confirming whether the fault is in the key, the antenna or the module.
Does an X260 XF portfolio or Sportbrake use a different key to the saloon?
No. All X260 XF body styles — saloon, Sportbrake — use the same smart key fob hardware and the same BCM-based programming system. Programming time and procedure are identical across all variants. We carry X260-compatible fobs for all body styles in the van.
Will programming a spare key affect my existing X260 remotes?
No. Adding a new key writes it into the BCM’s approved list without modifying or invalidating current remotes. All existing fobs remain fully active. Only a full BCM reset in an all-keys-lost scenario clears the approved list, and in that case all new remotes are programmed together in a single session.
Is there a warranty on X260 key programming?
Yes. All parts and programming carry a 12-month warranty. If a programmed remote fails within the warranty period, we return to site at no charge. The fixed price quoted by phone is all-inclusive with no hidden fees.
We also cover other Jaguar saloon and sports models. If you need a key for the Jaguar XE (X760), the Jaguar XJ (X351), or the Jaguar F-PACE (X761) which shares the same platform as the X260, our mobile service covers all three alongside the XF.
