The Jaguar XF (X260) is Jaguar’s executive saloon and Sportbrake estate, on sale from 2015 right through to 2026 and sharing the same aluminium intensive platform as the smaller XE. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged XF key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct JLR diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X260, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. Our technicians come to you, programme the key on the spot and have you back in the car the same day in almost every case, with no lock module replacement and no need to recover the vehicle.
For an XF spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged fob, we come to you and cut and programme the new key on site. Your existing keys keep working alongside the new one, central locking and the alarm are left untouched and there is no need to swap out the security module to bring a fresh remote onto the car.
For an all keys lost situation we bypass the requirement for a working key by accessing the immobiliser and security modules directly, clearing the old key data and programming new remotes on the spot, so the car never needs to be recovered or towed. Every remote we supply fully supports keyless entry, push button start and the proximity locking the XF came with, and we always leave at least two working keys before we go. Parts and labour come with a 12 month warranty, and the price is agreed up front before we set off, so there are no surprises on the day.
What sets the XF X260 apart from the earlier X250 XF is the move to the KVM, the keyless vehicle module that handles all the proximity, push button start and walk away locking on the modern car. When the original key is lost the KVM has to be authenticated and the new fob written into it directly, which is why a generic locksmith fob almost never works on an X260 even when the buttons appear to lock and unlock the doors. We carry properly licensed virgin keys for the X260 in both saloon and Sportbrake estate form, programme them through the KVM the same way the dealer does, and the original keys you still have keep working alongside the new one. The 2021 facelift cars use the same KVM architecture, so coverage is the same right through to 2026.
A generic fob locks and unlocks my XF doors but will not start the engine, why?
The KVM, the keyless vehicle module, has to authorise a key for ignition separately to the central locking. Generic fobs often cover the locking side because that is straightforward, but the KVM authentication is what most third party kits cannot do.
Are the keys the same on the saloon and the Sportbrake estate?
Yes, both body styles share the same KVM and the same key family, so the procedure is identical.
Do the 2021 facelift cars use a different key?
No, the 2021 facelift kept the same KVM architecture, so the same fob works right through from 2015 to 2026.
How quickly can you attend an XF callout?
Most X260 attendances are completed the same day, with a typical on site time of around an hour for an all keys lost and around 45 minutes for a spare or replacement.
