Fast Help:
The Jaguar XK and XKR (X150) is Jaguar’s grand tourer, on sale from 2006 right through to 2015 and offered in both Coupe and Convertible body styles. The X150 was the first Jaguar to fully adopt the modern smart proximity key with push button start, which means a lost or damaged remote cannot be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X150, including the standard XK, the supercharged XKR and the limited XKR S, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. Our technicians come to you, programme the key on the spot and have you back in the car the same day in almost every case, with no lock module replacement and no need to recover the vehicle.
For an XK or XKR spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged remote, we come to you and cut and programme the new key on site. Your existing keys keep working alongside the new one, the central locking and alarm are left untouched and there is no need to swap out the security module to bring a fresh remote onto the car.
For an all keys lost situation we bypass the requirement for a working key by accessing the immobiliser and security modules directly, clearing the old key data and programming new remotes on the spot, so the car never needs to be recovered or towed. Every remote we supply fully supports keyless entry and the push button start system the X150 came with, and we always leave at least two working keys before we go. Parts and labour come with a 12 month warranty, and the price is agreed up front before we set off, so there are no surprises on the day.
Worth knowing about the X150 specifically: this was the first Jaguar to drop the traditional dashboard slot and move to a fully push button start with proximity sensing, which means the original keys carry a lot of data the car simply will not start without. The other point owners run into is that the early 2006 to 2008 fobs use a different rubber button overlay to the post 2009 facelift cars, so a like for like replacement matters if you want the right feel in the hand. We stock both styles, along with the supercharged XKR and the limited XKR-S, and we keep the correct virgin keys in the van rather than ordering them in. Ordering a spare while you still have one working brings the price down significantly compared to a full all keys lost callout, so it is well worth doing before the second key disappears.
Will a new XK key affect the original one still in my pocket?
No, your original key keeps working alongside the new one. We add the new fob to the car memory rather than wiping the existing keys, so you finish with both working in parallel.
How long does a same day callout for an XK take?
A spare or replacement is usually wrapped up in around 45 minutes from the moment we arrive. An all keys lost callout takes a little longer, typically about an hour, because the car security module needs to be cleared first.
Do you cover the supercharged XKR-S as well as the standard XK and XKR?
Yes, the XKR-S uses an identical key system to the rest of the range, so the procedure and pricing are the same.
Is it worth ordering a spare X150 key before I lose all of them?
Always. A spare key callout is a fraction of the cost of a full all keys lost emergency, and it leaves you with a backup that lives somewhere safe rather than in the same bag as the original.
