The Jaguar XJ (X351) was on sale from 2010 right through to 2019 and is the last generation of the XJ saloon, built on a fully aluminium chassis and offered in both standard and long wheelbase forms. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged X351 key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. Does the long wheelbase Portfolio use a different key to the standard X351?
No, the long wheelbase cars use the same fob as the standard wheelbase. The pairing time can be slightly longer simply because the car has more comfort modules to talk to, but the key itself is identical.
Are XJR keys swappable with the standard X351?
Yes, the supercharged XJR uses the same fob as the rest of the range. You can pair an XJR key into a non XJR X351 and vice versa.
What about the Velocity edition and the XJ50 limited run?
Both use a standard X351 fob, so a normal X351 remote is a like for like replacement.
Are early 2010 cars handled the same way as the late 2019 final cars?
