The Jaguar XE (X760) is Jaguar’s compact executive saloon, on sale from 2015 right through to 2026 and built on the same aluminium intensive platform as the larger XF. It uses the fully encrypted JLR security architecture, which is exactly why a lost or damaged XE key cannot simply be sorted at a high street locksmith. The two routes that actually deliver a working key are a main Jaguar dealership and AJ Auto. We carry the correct JLR diagnostic kit and virgin keys for every model year of the X760, including the petrol, diesel and Project 8 variants, supplying spare keys, full replacement remotes and complete all keys lost recovery anywhere in the UK. Our technicians come to you, programme the key on the spot and have you back in the car the same day in almost every case, with no lock module replacement and no need to recover the vehicle.
For an XE spare key or a replacement for a lost or damaged fob, we come to you and cut and programme the new key on site. Your existing keys keep working alongside the new one, central locking and the alarm are left untouched and there is no need to swap out the security module to bring a fresh remote onto the car.
For an all keys lost situation we bypass the requirement for a working key by accessing the immobiliser and security modules directly, clearing the old key data and programming new remotes on the spot, so the car never needs to be recovered or towed. Every remote we supply fully supports keyless entry, push button start and the proximity locking the XE came with, and we always leave at least two working keys before we go. Parts and labour come with a 12 month warranty, and the price is agreed up front before we set off, so there are no surprises on the day.
Every XE since 2015 uses the same smart proximity remote with push button start, including the limited Project 8 saloon. The fob carries a passive transmitter paired to the Keyless Vehicle Module and a high security emergency blade, both written cleanly through encrypted JLR diagnostics before the car will accept the new hardware. We carry virgin XE remotes for every model year from 2015 through to the final 2026 cars and for the Project 8 separately on request.
Common XE callouts include flat fob batteries, accidental key loss after long commutes, and replacement keys for a second driver in the household. The realistic alternative to us is a main Jaguar dealer, where pricing typically lands in the several hundred pound bracket, the slot wait often runs to one or two weeks, and the car may need to be moved to them by recovery. How quickly can you replace a Jaguar XE (X760) key on site?
Pre 2020 facelift XEs sit on the older JLR security platform and are typically finished in 5 to 10 minutes for a spare key and 20 to 40 minutes for an all keys lost callout on a locked car. Post 2020 facelift XEs moved to the newer Pivi Pro security architecture and take 10 to 20 minutes for a spare and around 40 minutes for an all keys lost lockout. Either way we attend on site with dealer level JLR diagnostic kit and finish in well under an hour in almost every case.
I bought a used XE that came off lease, can the previous lease driver keys be cancelled?
Yes. XEs cycling off lease are very common on the used market, and lease drivers occasionally retain a working spare or fail to return all keys to the lease company. We can attend the car and clear the existing key data on the security module, paired only to fresh fobs. Once the XE is paired to your new keys any retained fob from a previous lease driver becomes immediately useless, even if they still have a working remote in hand.
I locked my XE keys inside the boot, can the car be opened without damage to trim or panels?
Yes. The XE saloon has a boot release through the cabin, but if the keys are sealed inside the boot and the cabin is also locked we have non destructive entry techniques specifically for the X760 saloon body. We can access the cabin without removing trim cards, scratching paint or damaging the boot lid mechanism, and once inside we open the boot through the standard release. If the fob is then damaged or unresponsive we can pair a fresh one on the same visit.
Will replacing keys on my XE affect any fleet tracking, OBD logger or business mileage app?
No. Fleet telemetry boxes, OBD plug in mileage loggers and business mileage apps all sit on a different data path from the smart key system. Adding or replacing a paired remote does not affect any tracker, telematics device or expense logging app, so fleet drivers and business mileage claimants do not need to notify their fleet manager or app provider before the work. The XE continues to log mileage and report through telematics exactly as before.
The dealer is insisting on a security module replacement on my XE before keys can be programmed, but I rely on the car for daily business use. Is that really the only option?
On a daily business XE the answer is almost always no. We attend XE owners every week where Jaguar has flagged the module as needing replacement and finish the key programming on the same visit using specialist JLR tooling, leaving the original module in place. For a fleet or business driver who cannot afford a multi day workshop slot the specialist callout route is significantly faster, and genuine module failure on the X760 is rare. Before agreeing to invasive module work that takes the XE off the road for days, a JLR specialist second opinion almost always saves the disruption.
