The Range Rover L322 ran from 2002 to 2012 and is genuinely interesting from a key programming point of view because it lived through two completely different security generations. Early cars from 2002 to 2005 were built under BMW ownership and run BMW era electronics, while 2006 onwards moved to a Jaguar Land Rover derived security platform that behaves quite differently. AJ Auto carries specialist software and the correct virgin keys for both generations, which makes us one of the very few options outside a main dealer that can properly handle either era. For an L322 spare key or a replacement for a damaged remote, we come to you and cut and programme the new key in front of you. We carry the right diagnostic kit for both the BMW era cars and the later JLR derived models, along with the correct blade types for both ignition styles. Your existing keys keep working alongside the new one, central locking is left untouched and there is no need to swap out the security module to make a fresh remote talk to the vehicle.
For an all keys lost situation we bypass the requirement for a working key by accessing the immobiliser and security modules directly, clearing the old key data and programming fresh remotes on site. We always leave at least two working keys with the customer before we go, so you are never relying on a single fob. Every remote we supply is fully compatible with the central locking and ignition system, and parts and labour come with a 12 month warranty. The price is agreed up front before we set off so there are no surprises when we arrive.
Are the early BMW era and later JLR era L322 keys interchangeable?
No, the 2002 to 2005 cars use a BMW derived security system and the 2006 onwards cars use a Jaguar Land Rover derived platform. The fobs are completely different and not cross compatible.
Do you stock the correct virgin keys for both L322 generations?
Yes, we carry the BMW era hardware and the JLR era hardware in the van. We confirm which platform your car runs before quoting and bring the right kit on the day.
Can you handle the supercharged L322 and the TDV8 diesel?
Yes, every L322 engine variant including the 4.4 V8, the 4.2 supercharged, the 5.0 supercharged and the 3.6 TDV8 diesel uses the same fob within its production era.
My L322 has had a previous key replacement that did not work properly, can you put it right?
Yes. Bad previous attempts are common on the L322 and we routinely sort them. We can clear any incomplete pairing data and start fresh with correctly programmed virgin remotes.
Will the boot lock memory and air suspension calibration be affected by a new key?
No. The boot lock memory, air suspension and HVAC settings sit on different modules to the security side, so adding a fresh remote does not reset any of them.
