Move or Secure the Vehicle Immediately
If your Jaguar is parked near where the theft occurred and the thief potentially knows the location, move it. A stolen proximity fob can unlock and start the vehicle the moment the thief approaches it. If you cannot move it yourself, get someone who has access to a working key to move it, or arrange secure storage. Enable any tracker if the vehicle is fitted with one and contact the police.
Report to Your Insurer
Motor insurance policies vary, but key theft should be reported promptly. Some policies include key replacement cover, which can offset the cost of a KVM clear and new keys. Contact your insurer before booking any key work so you understand what is covered.
The Stolen Key Must Be Deactivated
Programming new Jaguar keys without clearing the KVM leaves the stolen key active and able to start the vehicle. The correct procedure for any stolen key situation is a full KVM clear: every registered key profile is wiped, and the module is rebuilt with new keys. This permanently disables the stolen key. Adding new keys while leaving the old ones registered is not a security solution.

When to go to a dealer instead
If your vehicle is still under JLR factory warranty and the fault is covered, take it to a dealer. Warranty repairs are free and no specialist can match that.
